I like Ad-Aware for spyware and adware and Malwarebytes for Malware.
Both have free versions for download. Just search online for both and download, and install them. Keep them updated and scan often.

Adaware is good, perhaps the safest. It will still leave your system in one piece. For difficult issues you can go the “Hijack this” route. However it has been my experience that some of the later viruses just do not have a cure. At least not for the average non-tech person. Some have to go in and manually remove registry keys and such, rename files. Often the result is the same anyway, that the best answer is to reinstall windows. Still, if adaware doesn’t help, you can get hijack this below, it’s free. If that does not help, re-install windows. Also, I will recommend using a safer search engine like AltaVista or AlltheWeb, as these viruses are often coming from people either hacking or bribing google, causing you to click on phony pages you should not be clicking on

Definitely AVG FREE or AD-AD WARE they are both good i don’t know if ad AD-AD WARE is free but avg works for me.
AVG also notices you if your downloading something, for example my friend download a game and as it downloaded it told me it had a Trojan and deleted it.
So i recommend AVG the most

Personally i use Spybot Search & Destroy to protect my computer, as it not just removes existing spyware, it can immunize your computer against future threats!
